About The Host: Peter V. Radatti
Pete has accomplished a great deal and expects to do a great deal more. Having spent most of his life in the service of the US Federal Government, he was used to staying out of the spotlight, which makes his debut as a radio talk show host even more surprising. Having said that, Pete has been an invited public speaker at technical conventions for the last 25 years with audiences numbering in the thousands. Topics have ranged from fiber optics, network design, computer systems design, computer security and antivirus, cyberwar strategies and transportation port security. He was also an international technical columnist from around 1984 to about 1998. His articles were published on three continents and translated into multiple languages. Pete has recently (2010) started to write for Jimmy Tayoun’s newspaper, The Public Record.
He has not limited himself to just computers and computer security. Pete also has been involved in medical and functional food product design and anywhere else where he developed an interest. Usually his interest is developed by his desire to help people where no help is available. One of the triggers that allows Pete to invent is to hear from some expert, “that’s impossible.” The expert is usually proven wrong forthwith. The proofs of these endeavors are available in the form of US Patents. As of this writing Pete has about 14 patents issued in his name or jointly in his name. He also has about an additional 15 patents somewhere in the works toward issue.
As a businessman Pete founded CyberSoft. CyberSoft was created to manufacture and sell his inventions in the field of industrial computer security. Founded in 1988, CyberSoft released the first antivirus scanner for Unix, the first heterogeneous (multi-platform) scanner, the first scanner to use a full virus description language (CVDL) and one of the first systems to incorporate a cryptographic integrity tool as part of a security tool kit.
When asked about his secret of success, he replied:
- Make it work.
- Never stop learning.
- Solve people’s problems.
- Do the right thing, the first time.
- Stick to the KISS principal. (Keep It Simple and Stupid)
For hobbies, Pete enjoys cooking, especially Italian and Asian fusion styles, foreign travel (Canada, Mexico, Switzerland, Spain, Romania, Moldavia, Transylvania, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine and Italy), putt-putt golf and target range. He advises to not visit the range for at least 2 weeks before having to pass through an airport.
